Kananook Gatehouse

Prefab1 was engaged to design, construct, and install a modular gatehouse for the Kananook Train Stabling Yard project – a key part of the broader upgrade to support Melbourne’s growing rail network. The gatehouse provides a secure and functional control point for managing access to the stabling yard, used by Metro Trains staff and authorised personnel.

Constructed offsite in Prefab1’s Melbourne-based facility, the modular gatehouse was fully fitted out prior to delivery, allowing for fast and efficient installation with minimal onsite disruption. The building includes essential services, internal fit-out, and security requirements – delivered as a complete turnkey solution.

Installed on a tight schedule, the gatehouse was craned into position and commissioned quickly, enabling immediate operational use. This project highlights Prefab1’s ability to deliver high-performance modular infrastructure for critical transport environments, with a focus on speed, quality, and site-specific functionality.
